St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC) has provided support to the people of Cuba to help in that country’s fight against COVID-19.
The financial donation of $12,000 EC dollars was made following an appeal conveyed through the Friends of Cuba. This group includes the Cuba – SVG Friendship Society, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Medical Association and the Association of Cuban Professionals in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The group launched the appeal in August at a time when Cuba was experiencing challenges on account of the COVID- 19 pandemic.
This donation by VINLEC is one of many initiatives being undertaken to commemorate the Company’s 60th (Diamond) anniversary, on November 27th.
Through this “Diamond Act,” VINLEC is providing support to those in need.
Over the years, VINLEC has benefited from the expertise of numerous Cuban professionals and this has helped in the growth of the organisation and its people.
Additionally, Cuba has given generously to the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in all spheres of life. VINLEC’s donation is an expression of thankfulness to the Government and people of Cuba for their unwavering commitment for many decades. It is also a show of support to the Cuban people during this challenging period in their history.
The monies will be used to purchase medical supplies which will be used in the country’s fight against COVID-19. An official handing over event took place on October 28th at VINLEC’s Corporate Headquarters.
Coordinator of the Cuba – SVG Friendship Society, Mr. Bernard Hamilton accepted on behalf of the Friends of Cuba.
