Workers at the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre, situated at Glen, are amongst the latest to be officially brought up to speed with the central government’s ongoing COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
Since recent amendments were made to the local Public Health Act, some government employees have been put on notice – vaccinate or be made to vacate your job.
An undated memo – supposedly sent by the Senior Nursing Officer, Dr. Elizabeth Medford – and addressed to “All Members” detailed the rehabilitation centre’s vaccination policy going forward.
It read:
“Kindly note that any staff member who is unvaccinated or has no exemption letter by the 19th November 2021, will not be allowed to enter the Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre on the 20th November 2021.
“If any member of staff enters without submitting proof of vaccination or a letter of exemption before the 19th November 2021, this will be considered an act of misconduct and you will be removed.
“Persons who do not present proof of vaccination or letter of exemption and are not on the job for ten (10) consecutive days would have abandoned their job. Staff members on sick leave or vacation leave must also submit proof of vaccination or letter of exemption by the 19th November 2021 or the same protocols applies.
“Persons who would have contracted COVID-19 recently has one month from the date of diagnosis to take the vaccine.”
The Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre staffers are amongst the latest batch of government employees to be ranked as frontline workers while health authorities work to combat the local COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy culture.
