The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers’ Union wishes to highlight a range of issues affecting our members and we are calling on the Ministry of Education and other relevant authorities to address these matters urgently.

    1. The presence of Covid-19 cases among our student population and the reluctance of the
authorities to take appropriate action to mitigate the spread.
    2. The general deplorable conditions of schools that include; lack of proper working toilet
facilities, running water and adequate furniture.
    3. The unsightly bins that continue to litter the school compound creating a breeding ground
for mosquitoes and propagating the spread of dengue fever.

The SVGTU fully endorse the united efforts of the teachers at the West St. George Secondary
School to demonstrate solidarity with their colleagues and encourage other staff to do likewise.
We continue to implore teachers to report for duty both in the online and face to face settings.
We hope that the authorities in their wisdom will resolve these and other outstanding issues so
that all teachers can have an enjoyable Christmas season.
