Some residents of Canouan are unhappy with the current state of the wharf on the island. They are requesting that the government of St Vincent and the Grenadines hold discussions with them, which they hope will lead to upgrades soon.

Residents say that far too many years have passed without work being done on the wharf in Grand Bay and the neglect must end. On Thursday, February 24, 2022, residents expressed their disapproval by mounting tires on the edge of the wharf as they protested.

Those present have made it clear that they intend to continue taking protest action until the government engages in a consultation with them. Those protests will be more organized than the initial action that took place on Thursday. ANN will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates.
