The Argyle International Airport (AIA) is the major gamechanger in the overall development of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
So says, Minister of Agriculture Hon. Saboto Ceasar. Ceasar, who was speaking on Monday at the Fisherman’s Day activity, he noted that the AIA has “definitely created a link between St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the rest of the world, we can boast today of sending as far as Hong Kong, live lobsters”.
The Minister said this country has a vibrant Blue Economy, and a lot has been invested in the development of the fishing industry here.
Ceasar also noted that since the launch of the Fleet Expansion Project, several fishers have applied for loans under the programme and some outreach will be done for those interested so the technical staff at the Fisheries department can guide those interested in being a part of the project.
The Minister said other development include a training programme in fishing techniques for young people, boat repairs and small engine repairs.
