Vincentian Chester Morgan, who is the Director of Coaches and Camps for the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) has been leading the charge for the new World Athletics’ Kids In Athletics (KIA) programme in the NACAC Area.
With the initial pilot programme now completed, Morgan is busy organising the NACAC Kids Athletics Practitioner Training.
This component is a two-part undertaking, the first being for coaches from the English-speaking territories, set for the Dominican Republic from 23rd to 26th August.
The other session targeting the Spanish-speaking countries, takes place from 26th to 28th August at a venue yet to be decided.
Earlier this year, the new KIA Programme was framed and taught to Physical Education teachers, staff of the Division of Sports and Physical Education as well as others in the community.
As he looks eagerly towards the programme’s full implementation, Morgan needs no convincing that the revised KIA Programme will be of great benefit to the NACAC member federations.
He also holds the view that if worked in tandem with the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) framework, the KIA programme will yield good results for the practising coaches.
