The Chinedu Enemchukwu led Team SVG Chess was placed on the backfoot following a clean sweep the previous day. On Wednesday August 3rd, 2022, the SVG team came up against the Pacific nation of Nauru for round 6 of the. Having made light work of the Central African Republic, Nauru had other ideas.

The confident SVG team turned up on game day and were met with some unfortunate news in that it could not field the team the way it was decided on the night of the 2nd August 2022. As such Captain Chinedu was forced to return to the original line up of Enemchukwu, Cottle, Robinson and Mentes.
One could not be certain what impact this had on the psyche of the entire team then or if the team became overconfident with the August 2nd results. What we do know for certain is that the SVG team suffered a setback at Round 6.

Wednesday August 3rd, 2022, Chinedu Enemchukwu playing on board 1 came up against FIDE Master Ricko Depaune of Nauru and fought to a stalemate as neither of the players could outfox the other. In the end they both settled for a tame draw.

This was not to be the tale of the remaining three tables as SVG suffered defeats at the hand of the Nauruans. Brian Cottle, unrated, lost on board 2 in his clash with Thubalkain Dabuae a player with the rating 1941, whilst on board 3 Oris Robinson fsuffered at the hands and brain of Yoshi Harris, both of whom are not rated. The final board, board 4 saw Ugur Mentes (instead of James Schneider) being upper handed by Selu Jed Taleka . Taleka is rated at 1672 while Mentes is yet to be rated.

James Schneider due to the administrative confusions sat in the reserve chair. The players would have their rest day tomorrow Thursday August 4th 2022.

When the TEAM SVG Chess returns to the boards it will face another African nation. The team will lock horns with Brunei Darussalam. SVG Board 1 will have Chinedu Enemchukwu with the black pieces while the 2035 rated Munir Siraj Md Ahmed will play white pieces for Brunei. On Board 2 Rodney Guan Teck Lim an unrated player will play with the black pieces against Brian Cottle of SVG also unrated.

Board 3 will see SVG playing the black pieces in the hands of Oris Robinson as he takes on Shawal Sharikhan pushing white pieces. The final Board will Rhaman Abd pg Yussaf controlling the black pieces as he tackles James Schneider of Team SVG Chess. Ugur Mentes will keep the reserve bench.

Whilst the players get a day to get some well-deserved rest, Head of Delegation will also rest from his conferences and has the option of taking one of two available tours organised by the government of Tamil Nadu.
The conference events and the competition games will resume in earnest on Friday August 5th 2022.
