Finance Minister, Camillo Gonsalves, in statements made at a press conference today, has essentially distanced the Cabinet from a recently circulated memorandum which stated that healthcare workers must take Covid-19 booster shots every 5-months in order to remain employed with the Government.

Gonsalves said: “It is not a mandate. It is not a condition for employment,” and that they are strongly recommending workers to take the boosters.

But the Minister of Health – Jimmy Prince apologized for the memo stating that “it was not the intention of Cabinet”.

“I apologize for the anxiety caused by our recent memo among healthcare workers, but as I said before, that was not the intention of Cabinet; it is still not the intention of Cabinet…,” Health Minister St. Clair Prince said on Tuesday, August 9 at a press conference.
