I join with fellow Vincentians, Commonwealth friends and people around the world in expressing our deepest sadness on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. In her long reign, she provided steadfast leadership to people across the Commonwealth. Her leadership was exemplified by grace, humility, loyalty, and strength.

Her reign was a time of profound and lasting change. Her commitment to service was absolute and was never found wanting.
She has fully kept her pledge made as a youthful 21-year-old princess that her life “Whether it be long or short” would be dedicated to the service of her people. That service was long and fruitful.
Only days ago, we saw pictures of Her Majesty swearing in her 15th Prime Minister, and now she is gone.

Although we live with the inevitability of our mortality as human beings, we cannot easily come to terms with the passing of those who have become fixtures in our lives. In her service, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II touched numerous lives for an exceptionally long time.
As Leader of the Opposition and on behalf of the New Democratic Party, I extend sincere condolences to His Majesty King Charles III, the Royal Family, and people of his realms and Commonwealth.

We give thanks for her long and dedicated service.
    May she Rest in Peace
