The MSS/SJCM Alumni Association of North America has on September 16, 2022, donated $13,500 EC to St. Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua. The check was handed over to the school’s Principal Sister Jacinta Wallace by Desmarie Greenaway, who acted on behalf of the Alumni Association. The money will be used to assist the school with the upgrading of the library. In April this year, the school has received over 600 books and other reading materials for the library, donated by the organization.
This is not the first that the North America Alumni Association has donated to the school. In 2019, the association provided over $5,000 US worth of lab equipment to assist with the upgrading the school’s Science laboratory. The association has also donated yearly since 2018 the Principal’s Trophy to be awarded during the annual graduation.
According to the Public Relations Office (PRO) of the organization, Ms. Erter Browne, “The organization has been actively involved in giving back to our alma mater and will continue to assist wherever possible. This current financial donation demonstrates our commitment to an institution that has laid the foundation for so many of us academically and otherwise.
It is in part our duty as past students to contribute in whatever way possible to ensure the continued development of the school education resources, so that current and future generation of students can continue to experience the good quality education the school is known to impart to its students.”
The organization was established in 2018 and is headquartered in Brooklyn, New York. It is spare headed by President Kenroy “Kenny” Browne. Its membership includes past students of St. Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua previously known as Marriaqua Secondary School residing in the United States and Canada.
