The SVG Port Authority has adopted the new village at Orange Hill at which
some volcano evacuees have resettled and has spread Christmas cheer to
    the residents.

As part of activities to spread holiday cheer to the new settlement, the SVG
Port Authority lit up the community on December 17, and distributed gifts to
more than 30 children in the area on December 22.

Marketing Manager at the Kingstown Port, Ms. Sophia Clouden said the aim
was to try to bring Christmas cheer to residents and to help them resettle in
    the new community.

“The Intention is to do more work and move towards adopting the community,” Ms. Clouden said, adding that, “we can help improve their lives as they continue to go through recovery process.”

She said that the residents of the community were very appreciative of the
    gesture
