Education Minister Curtis King, speaking on NBC’s Face to Face programme on Wednesday 8th February, informed the listening public that sometime in the near future, primary schools will see adjustments in the curriculum.
He stated that the ministry in currently in the process of making revisions to the curriculum with support from a number of partner agencies.
He gave the rationale for this move as, “If the education system is going to play the role that you want it to play in the transformation of the society, then we have to examine our entire education system with a view to making the necessary adjustments; to put it in that position where it could play such a role.”
He further explained that, with the Ministry of Education having already begun to make these curricular adjustments, “… We have to address the matter at the foundation level and get it right up to the top. We have done a lot of work in this area and so we are hoping that through our consultations and so on, soon we’ll have some decisions as to what are the adjustments we’d be making to the curriculum at the primary school level.”
