With dreams of being one of the most successful block makers in St Vincent and the Grenadines, Leroy Charles is launching his second small business to help him realize his dreams .

Charles is launching his newest business venture, Big L Blocks and Trucking on April 3rd, 2023.
He is no newcomer to the small business industry having run and operated a woodworking shop before leaving St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the British Virgin Islands in 2017.

The budding entrepreneur has been an employee in the construction sector for over 19 years and decided to expand into the block making business since he sees it as a key component of the industry which can be run without him being physically present in the island.

“I see the need for blocking, I see the profit for blocking knowing that…it plays a very important part in the construction industry, it’s a must have. If you look around today, more people are building houses, so that is one of the reasons I take up the blocking business,” he explained.
However, this is not the final step for Charles as he plans to expand his business by reopening his wood working shop and expanding into other ventures in the coming years.

“In the next five years I want to be one of, if not the leading block maker in SVG with otheritems added like concrete brick as one the other items on my list, with different designs, hardware store and a construction company,” he said.
Charles noted that he already sees himself as a success because he already has multiple assets, even as a small business owner.
As an entrepreneur he said that reading is one of the skills that he thinks makes him a good business owner.
“Be a good listener, don’t be afraid to ask questions, don’t be afraid to take risks, have good communication skills and always put your workers first,”Charles further added.
He noted that the former owner and founder of Finishing and Furnishing, O.T Myers was a mentor to him when he started his business.
“I…had the opportunity to speak with him many times and his story is one to give anyone who has intentions on entering into business the hope that they will succeed in spite of the challenges they will face along the way.”
And,as an entrepreneur Charles encourages all budding entrepreneurs to “go to school, get an education, find an area of your life where you have a passion and invest…”
BigL blocks and trucking is located in the Village of Reeves Level.
Charles explained that a sign will soon be placed at the main entrance at Carlos Pompey’s shop
with the contact information and signs within the village that will direct you to the business’location.
He noted that customers can always expect good customer service and quality products at all
time at one of the best rates island wide
Big L blocks can also be found on Facebook and Instagram at Big L Blocks & Trucking
