    Jeshua Bardoo receives Youth Hero Award for “Social Inclusion and Mental Health Advocacy”

    Equal Rights, Access and Opportunities SVG Inc. (ERAO SVG) recognizes and celebrates Jeshua Bardoo, its Founder and President, for receiving the NDP Young Democrats Youth Hero Award for “Social Inclusion and Mental Health Advocacy” on the 31st of March 2023 at a ceremony that was held at the Sir James Auditorium at the Democrat House, located in Kingstown.

    In 2021, ERAO SVG, a human rights organization dedicated to promoting equality and non-discrimination in SVG with a specific thematic focus on the rights of women, children, the LGBTQ+ community and persons living with mental and physical disabilities.

    Through this organization, along with his team and other members, he helps to plan and execute events, prepare grant proposals, manage membership, and attends meetings in and outside of SVG with civil society, government officials, regional organizations in the Caribbean, and international bodies such as the United Nations, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, Human Rights Watch, Human Dignity Trust, Eastern Caribbean Alliance for Diversity and Equality (ECADE), the U.S Embassy in Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the OECS, the British High Commission in Kingstown, the Delegation of the European Union to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean States, the OECS and CARICOM/CARIFORUM, and the High Commission of Canada to Barbados and the OECS, to name a few. Thus far ERAO SVG has amassed 35+ members.

    Apart from ERAO SVG, Bardoo is the Country Coordinator for the Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network Chapter in SVG. One of SVG’s National Youth Delegates on the Commonwealth Youth Council, a Member of the Rotaract Club of Kingstown, and they have written over 40 articles addressing various human rights and social issues in the SVG and the Caribbean region.

    Bardoo, who is lawyer is also the recipient of various other awards and scholarships such as a 2012 National Exhibition Scholarship, a 2019/20 Chevening Scholarship, and a 2022/23 Fellowship at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
