A former Vermont resident was shot and killed in Brooklyn, New York early this morning, following an argument with her boyfriend.
According to PIX11 the woman, 49, who has been identified as Jacqueline Lewis, was allegedly shot three times about her body by the suspect, 48, in her home near East 96th Street and Clarkson Boulevard.
Police were called to the scene after her daughter alerted them, she then hid in the home until help arrived.
The suspect tried to hide after the shooting, but police were able to force their way into the home and take him into custody.
The victim was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.
ANN spoke to Millicent Wilson, mother of the deceased, who said that she cannot describe how she is feeling after hearing the news of her daughter’s passing.
Wilson said that her daughter, who is one of four children, was the best daughter she could have asked for.
“Everybody loved her and that’s all I can say right now, but it’s a big blow to me at present, and I can’t elaborate much.”
ANN also spoke to a long time friend of Lewis, Lizzy, who said that she fell to the ground when she learnt of the passing of her friend of over 30 years.
She said that they grew up together and would hang out often, although they hadn’t talked recently because she often travels.
Wilson said that her granddaughter, who was present at the time of the incident, is still in shock and while it is very hard on her at the moment, they are all trying to hang in there for her.
The police investigation is ongoing.
