    FIRST-TIMER DETHRONES FIREMAN BY WINNING 2023 RAGGA SOCA MONARCH

    It was his first time making the finals of Ragga Soca Monarch, and Javid ‘Jay R’ Rouse created an upset; he won.

    Jay R dethroned Delroy ‘Fireman’ Hooper and outperformed twelve (12) other artistes in the process.

    At the show on July 7 at Victoria Park, Rouse who comes from Campden Park performed a piece called – “Love of Carnival”.

    Rouse is related to the 2019 Soca Monarch winner – Derron ‘Magikal’ Rouse who also hails from Campden Park.

    In second position was Hance John who performed a piece called “Bruk Out”.

    The 2022 Ragga Soca Monarch title holder – Delroy ‘Fireman’ Hooper placed 3rd with his song – “Sapodilla Woman”.
