The Marriaqua Secondary School/ St Joseph Convent Marriaqua Alumni association recently donated XCD $40,000 to the school towards the renovation of the school’s Food Lab and kitchen.
In a release, they stated that donation is a part of its mission and intent to meaningfully contribute to the ongoing development of the school.
“We are hoping this renovation will help to provide the type of opportunities for current and future students to improve their culinary skills and reinvent the ways we prepare and present local dishes,” the release stated.
They association is hoping to continue to assist in the development of the school.
Molese Richards a teacher at the St. Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua thanked the association for their donation.
She explained that Food Nutrition and Health is one the Home Economic Subjects offered at the school, furthermore, it is a subject area that not only encourages making healthy decisions when selecting and preparing food, but also helps students to develop a skill.
