The average residential customer of the St. Vincent Electricity Services (VINLEC) used 140 units of electricity monthly.

This was disclosed by Chief Executive Officer of Vinlec Dr. Vaughn Lewis during a call to WE FM’s Issue At Hand program.
“So we do have customers and businesses out there that have the potential to reduce their energy consumption but we also have customers who have done quite a lot especially some of our residential customers, because our average consumption for our residential customer is about 140 units. Now if you look at the recent fuel surcharge and base rate, that is between 140 and 150 dollars monthly,” he said.

Dr. Lewis also noted that with the average residential using 140 units monthly, this also meant that the average residential customer does not pay value-added tax (vat) on their bills, with vat being charged for usage of units 250 and over.
