Local police have confirmed to ANN that they are looking for local businessman and evangelist Joel Archibald, who operated a supermarket in Prospect, in relation to several reports of alleged fraudulent activities.
Over the past several weeks, ANN has received multiple reports from several business owners in St. Vincent and the Grenadines who have been defrauded in one way or another by the local businessman.
According to one report Archibald is alleged to have bought an item on hire purchase and defaulted on payments when he issued a cheque that was returned, the item was later repossessed.
The businessman also allegedly took some items from a popular businessman and failed to pay for goods resulting in the goods being repossessed.
It is alleged that the business man had businesses in neighboring Caribbean islands which were closed because of bad business practices.
And, in St Vincent a previous business of his was closed because he defaulted on payment for the rent for the business that housed his business.
The businessman is also alleged to have defaulted on rent where he previously rented for storage to the tune of $69,000.
He is also accused of writing over $200,000 in returned checks to business including supermarkets, security services and government institutions across St Vincent and the Grenadines
The businessman is also accused of wrecking several vehicles belonging to rental companies and refused to cover the damages caused.
The supermarket which was operated in Prospect was officially closed on Monday after two creditors moved in and removed refrigerator, coolers, and Air Conditioning units.
