Tayeah St. Hilaire and Saj Caesar both represented their team, the Blue
Marlins Swim Club at the recently held BASA Short Course Swim
Championship which was held from the 5th to the 10th December, 2023 in
Barbados.
Despite only having two competitors in this championship they were able to
make their presence felt and left an indelible mark on the competition, Saj
Caesar competed in the boys 7-8 category and won two bronze medals in
the 50m butterfly and the 50m breaststroke. He also set a new national
record in the 200m individual medley.
Tayeah St. Hilaire competed in the girls 11-12 category and captured a
total of 15 medals, 7 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze. She also set two national
records in the process. These records were set in the 50m freestyle and
the 200m butterfly. Both athletes also did personal best times in a number
of their races.
The pair was accompanied by their coach Tamara St Hilaire who was
responsible for preparing the team for this competition. Blue Marlins
continue to encourage their swimmers to strive for excellence.
