Sandals Resort SVG is not yet operational but that did not stop them from spreading some Christmas joy at the Leeward District Seventh Day Adventist Primary School, located in Buccament, last Thursdays 14.
A contingent, including Sandals representative in St. Vincent and Minister of Mobilization/ MP for Central Leeward, Orando Brewster, joined students and staff at the primary school for their Christmas party.
Minister Brewster revealed that the school is his alma mater and one of the sterling institutions in the constituency of Central Leeward. He said the students appeared quite happy by Sandals generosity, while describing the company’s contribution as part of a strategic partnership between the company and the school.
“I am happy as the representative for the constituency to be here … and I must say this, Sandals has not yet opened its doors and they are doing mammoth work here in Buccument Bay. This is not the first, they also did very recently, repairs and renovations right here at this school for the opening of the school term. And, here they are again at the end of the first school term, having a Christmas Party with the school,” said Brewster, while expressing gratitude to Sandals Resort and the students and staff of primary school.
Consultant with Sandals, Annette Mark, said that the last two initiatives by Sandals marked just the beginning for the learning institution which is located close to the soon to be opened Sandals Resort.
“That is not just to say we would only be working with the school because we are also looking at other initiative with the schools in the community. Also, this falls under the Sandals Foundation which is funded by Sandals International,” said Mark.
Jeaneth Pierre, Principal of the Leeward District Seventh Day Adventist Primary School said that the staff and students were very happy and excited about Sandals’ contribution.
“We are very thankful for this initiative and grateful for Sandal Resort support to us. I am saying thank you for this initiative. The children are running about excited and I am sure the parents are also grateful,” said Pierre.
Joesel Pemberton- Executive Admin Assistant of Sandals said that Sandals support included food, drinks and fun activities for the students and was organized by the Sandals Foundation and a team in St. Vincent.
The typical loud music associated recently with Christmas parties here was not part of the activities. Instead. The students enjoyed fun games
