Well, one man from the community believes so.
Macady Ells, 33 of Lowmans Windward sat down with ANN to explain what happened the night his home, which he shares with his girlfriend, was broken into.
According to Ells, he was woken by his girlfriend at around 2:45 am after she complained about stomach pain.
He said that they looked for their mobile devices to contact someone for help, however, after failing to locate both of their phones, they proceeded to leave the bedroom to look for them.
“When she has been going towards the bathroom, she tells me to look one ah me bracelet on the floor, then she tells me now look all the jewelry box and everything gone,” he explained.
Ells said at that point he decided to get out of bed, however, he felt lightheaded and fell back on the bed.
When he was finally able to regain some consciousness he said he made an inspection of his home and found his jewelry boxes in different parts of the house.
He said he then alerted his sister and asked for her phone to use as a light to do further inspection.
“When we go down, we met one window open and the…main door open to go out from downstairs.”
He said after this he tried to use a tablet to call for assistance but he was unsuccessful.
Ells noted that both he and his girlfriend observed a funny odor in the room.
He said he then ran from the house with a friend and got a vehicle to take his girlfriend to the hospital.
“When we go hospital they have been saying they couldn’t find the baby heart [rate]… then they carry she upstairs and do an operation on her, and life five-six minutes after they just came out the tell me that the baby … downstairs dead,” an emotional Ells said
Since the incident, he said he has been distraught and added that the baby, his second and his girlfriend’s first, was due in less than two weeks.
Ells said that his girlfriend’s blood pressure has been extremely high and he had to take her back to the hospital since the incident.
He believes that whatever nerve agent or gas that was used to knock them out led to the death of his child.
Ells said the police were contacted about the matter and he wants swift justice for the death of his baby.
He said that recently several persons were arrested in connection to attempted robbery in the community.
However, he does not believe all the perpetrators of the crime have been caught.
