In a recent address from the Cabinet Room on, Monday 4th March 2024, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has emphasized the importance of maintaining a standard of operation that reflects the nation’s civilization.
The statement came in response to negative comments surrounding the preparations undertaken to welcome and host delegates from member states of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), including other organisations, such as the United Nations, at the historic VIII CELAC Summit held March 1s at Sandals Resort, Buccament, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Prime Minister drew a parallel between the meticulous preparations for the summit and the way families prepare to receive loved ones for special occasions. He remarked that just as families clean, change curtains, and make necessary preparations for the arrival of family members for events like Christmas or Carnival, the country did the same on a grand scale for the historic meeting.
The Prime Minister emphasized that this approach is not only a matter of hospitality but a reflection of the nation’s commitment to presenting itself in the best possible light.
The historic meeting showcased St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the global stage. Prime Minister Gonsalves expressed pride in the country’s ability to host such a significant event and reiterated the importance of presenting a clean and welcoming environment for visitors. As the nation continues to attract international attention, and prepare for other important activities like the cricket world cup in June, 2024 Dr. Gonsalves concluded by urging citizens to take pride in their role as hosts and ambassadors. The meticulous preparations, he noted, not only ensure the success of international events but contribute to the positive perception of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on the global stage.
