There are reports that some members of staff at the Petersville primary school have not received their salaries with some having gone unpaid since November 2023.
Others have not received payment for the months of December 2023, January 2024 and a reliable source has indicated that some members of staff have not received salaries for last month.
According to the source, the staff at the Petersville Primary School are said to be fed up.
“Everyday it’s a different excuse,” the source told ANN.
“My thing is, if you cannot pay, come out and say so,” they continued.
They went on to say that there was a similar situation about a year or so ago when there was a situation like the one now.
ANN has received reports of altercations between staff members and the principal/proprietor of the school.
Some parents have even reached out complaining about the high replacement of teachers at the school.
One parent told ANN that “this a situation that always happened” .
The parent went on to say her child told her that her teacher was at school crying and pelting things and slamming doors. She is of the view that the Teacher is also affected.
The parent said she was shocked when her daughter brought home a letter from the school demanding payment for the period April to June.
However then, some teachers signed a letter which was sent to the Ministry of Education to which the MoE had indicated that it would look into the matter.
Nothing has been done since, however.
The affected staff is said to be frustrated and are looking for steps that they can take, especially that the institution is a private one.
Attempts to reach out to the management of the school proved futile.
