Please be advised that the old Doctor’s quarters located in Cedars are currently scheduled for an upgrade. The purpose of this upgrade is to allow for additional healthcare services to be provided in the South Windward area. In a recent interview with the API, Hon. Frederick Stephenson, the Area Representative for South Windward, revealed that the current structure, which boasts three bedrooms, will be renovated to house six self-contained living quarters for medical personnel, as well as an additional area for patient consultation. The upgrade aims to provide residents of Cedars, Reeves Flat, Bridgetown, Greiggs, and other nearby communities with closer healthcare services, thereby reducing the need for them to travel as far north as the Modern Medical Diagnostic Centre in Georgetown.
According to Stephenson, the land space on which the quarters are situated is quite extensive, and it previously housed a separate living quarter for a housemaid. In addition, there is a separate structure that currently houses residents who look after the lands. These spaces will be repurposed in the future to accommodate the growing demand for healthcare services in the South Windward area.
