Michael Findlay, the Chief of Mission for the local organizing committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, has stated that the St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ hosting of tournament matches would have been impossible without the Sandals Resort. According to him, the opening of the Sandals resort and the Argyle International Airport has played a crucial role in making SVG a viable option for the hosting of matches. He is confident that the availability of enough hotel rooms and the upgraded airport infrastructure would make St. Vincent an excellent choice for hosting such an event. He credits the opening of Sandals with providing the necessary accommodation, and he asserts that without it, they would have been in a lot of trouble. In his own words, “We based our bid on the fact that we get sandals.”
Certainly! Mr. Findlay confidently gave credit to the opening of the Argyle International Airport (AIA) for making the hosting of matches a reality. He firmly stated that it would not have been possible if the E.T. Joshua airport was still SVG’s main airport, as it would not be able to facilitate the level of travel needed for the event.
