    St. Vincent and the Grenadines Motorsport Association Triumphs with Inaugural Drag Racing Event

    In a groundbreaking display of automotive prowess, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Motorsport Association (SVGMA) successfully hosted its inaugural drag racing competition on April 27th and 28th, 2024. This landmark event, held at the ET Joshua Tarmac, attracted a vibrant mix of regional competitors and enthusiastic spectators, setting a new standard for motorsport in the Caribbean.Despite facing considerable logistical challenges in the lead-up, the SVGMA delivered a seamless and exhilarating weekend of racing. Over 30 cars from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, St. Lucia, Grenada, and Trinidad and Tobago joined local Vincentian drivers in a fierce contest for the title of “Best of the Best” and substantial cash prizes.

    The home team emerged victorious, with Team St. Vincent and the Grenadines clinching the overall championship. Team Barbados followed closely, securing the second position. The competition was marked by high levels of skill and sportsmanship, making it a memorable event for all involved.Individual accolades highlighted the exceptional talent present:Camillus Pitt triumphed in the 14-second bracket, driving his Mitsubishi Eterna.Aidon Shearman showcased his prowess in the 12-second bracket with his Toyota Levin.Carlon Browne claimed the 11-second bracket title in his Audi S5.Ellsworth Dacon dominated the 10-second bracket and earned the fastest quarter-mile car title with his Audi RS 3.Ali Clouden captured the fastest 1/8 mile title, demonstrating remarkable skill and determination.

    Team Barbados also achieved notable successes:Nicolas Pinto won the 13-second bracket with his Mitsubishi Colt.Sheridan Mohammed secured the fastest bike title aboard his Suzuki GSXR 1000.The SVGMA extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants, spectators, sponsors, volunteers, and partners, whose contributions and enthusiasm were crucial to the event’s success.

    The association views this inaugural competition as a testament to the growing regional interest in motorsport and a reinforcement of St. Vincent and the Grenadines as a prime destination for automotive enthusiasts.Looking ahead, the SVGMA is committed to further developing the motorsport sector in the region and anticipates hosting future events with continued public support.
