Kingstown, St. Vincent – On Sunday evening, June 2, 2024, a significant power outage plunged mainland St. Vincent into darkness due to a switchgear malfunction at a major power plant. The interruption, which began at approximately 6:30 pm, affected all VINLEC customers on the island.

VINLEC’s emergency teams promptly initiated restoration efforts, successfully bringing power back to the entire island by 10:45 pm. The power company’s swift response aimed to minimize the disruption caused by the unforeseen technical issue.

“We deeply regret the inconvenience caused by the outage and appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers,” VINLEC stated. “We are committed to deploying all necessary resources to ensure the reliability of our service.”

The company encouraged customers to stay informed through their social media channels for real-time updates and to report any ongoing issues. VINLEC emphasized its dedication to maintaining a dependable power supply and transparent communication with the community.
