The Ministry of Education and National Reconciliation has announced the preliminary results of the 2024 Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA), revealing outstanding performances from students across the nation.
The CPEA, a significant milestone for Grade 6 students, concluded on May 16, 2024, with 1,737 of the 1,745 registered students sitting for the examination. This year’s results show a commendable 87.68% of students meeting the prescribed standard, marking a slight increase from last year’s 85.17%.
Among the top performers is Ethan Richard Kent of Sugar Mill Academy, who secured the highest average score of 98.6%, emerging as the top student. Ethan’s exceptional performance included a perfect score of 100% in Mathematics.
Sugar Mill Academy further showcased its academic excellence with Darius Jonathan Humphrey, who ranked second overall. St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School also shone brightly, claiming six out of the top ten spots, with notable performances from Evan Eddison Scott, Rio Ezra Fitzpatrick, and Yohan Francis Burke.

The External Assessment, comprising multiple-choice tests in Mathematics, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies, along with the School-Based Assessment, formed the basis of the students’ final scores. The latter included a project, writing portfolio, book report, and various tests and exercises.
The highest scores in individual subjects were:
- Mathematics: Ethan Richard Kent (Sugar Mill Academy), Kyssondria Scott (South Rivers Methodist), Sonjay Lewis (Spring Village Methodist) – all with 100%
- Science: Prayash Parida (Windsor Primary), Yohan Francis Burke (St. Mary’s Roman Catholic), K-Ailla Jv-Ana Jackson (Union Methodist/New Grounds Primary), Ronnyra Quinisa May (Windsor Primary) – all with 100%
- Language Arts: Rio Ezra Fitzpatrick (St. Mary’s Roman Catholic) – 98.67%
- Social Studies: Evan Eddison Scott (St. Mary’s Roman Catholic), Timothy Isaiah Lewis (Kingstown Preparatory) – 97.3%
The Ministry of Education extends heartfelt congratulations to all students and expresses deep gratitude to headteachers, teachers, and staff at all schools, along with other stakeholders, for their unwavering support of the students. With 54 out of 67 schools achieving pass rates in excess of 80%, the results underscore the collective effort towards academic excellence in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
