In the vibrant community of Paul’s Avenue, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a young entrepreneur named Jaria Fraser is making waves. As the owner of Ria’zz Cosmetics and a dedicated teacher at West Saint George Secondary, Jaria’s story is one of passion, resilience, and innovation.
Jaria Fraser’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2018/2019 when she transformed a simple school project into a flourishing business. Ria’zz Cosmetics quickly gained recognition, not only within the local community but also among Vincentian gated communities worldwide. By 2020, the business was featured in the Bank of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG) as one of the entrepreneurial ventures destined for greatness.
The turning point for Ria’zz Cosmetics came with the launch of its top-selling product, “Ria’zz Mosquito Repellent.” Amid rising concerns over mosquito-borne illnesses such as Dengue Fever and Zika virus, the product found a receptive market in Australia. This international breakthrough was just the beginning of a series of successful ventures.
In the years 2023 and 2024, Ria’zz Cosmetics expanded its product line to include muscle rubs, chest rubs for cold and flu relief, and various facial products. The business also ventured into the toilet paper market with their innovative “Wipies” brand. These products have been distributed locally, regionally, and internationally, reaching new heights of success.
Jaria’s vision for Ria’zz Cosmetics over the next five years is ambitious. She aims to scale the business to meet increasing market demands on a global scale, focusing on large-scale distribution and continued product innovation.
Despite the impressive growth, Ria’zz Cosmetics has faced its share of challenges. Inefficient marketing strategies, difficulties in employee recruitment, brand awareness, and cash flow management have all tested Jaria’s resolve. Yet, her determination and entrepreneurial spirit remain unwavering.
Jaria believes that the qualities of a good entrepreneur include effective time management, being a great listener, observant, risk-taking, motivational, and disciplined. Her advice to young aspiring entrepreneurs is clear: “If you believe in something and are passionate about its development, keep fighting to make that dream your reality. Work hard but also learn to work smart.”
A product of Bishop’s College Kingstown and the SVGCC Division of Technical and Vocational Education, Jaria is currently pursuing further studies at Monroe University. Her academic background and personal drive have been instrumental in her business success.
Ria’zz Cosmetics, now a household name, offers its products through pick-up locations in Paul’s Avenue. The business is also negotiating with local organizations to ensure their toilet papers are available in stores, further cementing their place in the market.
Jaria Fraser’s journey from a simple school project to international acclaim is a testament to the power of perseverance, innovation, and community support. As she continues to break new ground, her story serves as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs everywhere.
