At a press conference on July 17, 2024, Commissioner of Police (Ag) Mr. Envill Williams detailed the outcomes of the recently concluded National Firearm Amnesty, underscoring the Force’s commitment to ridding the streets of illicit weapons.
In a series of intelligence-driven operations, the RSVGPF has seized three illegal firearms and thirty-five rounds of ammunition over the past five days. These operations underscore the Force’s dedication to identifying and prosecuting those in possession of illegal firearms.

- Jamal Hutchins:
- Arrest Date: July 19, 2024
- Location: Bequia
- Charges: Possession of a Glock pistol and 16 rounds of ammunition
- Court Appearance: July 21, 2024; Hutchins pleaded not guilty and was granted bail at $10,000 ECC, with a mandate to report to the Port Elizabeth Police Station every Monday between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
- Kesroy Williams:
- Arrest Date: July 21, 2024
- Location: Belair
- Charges: Possession of a .38 pistol and three rounds of .38 ammunition
- Court Appearance: Before the Serious Offences Court; Williams pleaded guilty and has been ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. His sentencing is set for August 6, 2024.
- Olando Burgin:
- Arrest Date: July 22, 2024
- Location: Lowmans Leeward, in Sandy Bay
- Charges: Possession of a 9mm pistol and 17 rounds of ammunition
- Court Appearance: July 24, 2024; Burgin pleaded guilty and is remanded in custody awaiting sentencing on July 25, 2024.
