In a dynamic move towards enhanced youth involvement in nation-building, Anson Latchman, the newly appointed Chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Youth Council, has pledged to lead a transformative wave of youth engagement in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
In an interview with the Agency for Public Information (API), Latchman shared his enthusiasm for his new role and emphasized the crucial role of young people in shaping the nation’s future. “It’s a privilege to represent my country in this capacity,” Latchman stated. “Many are chosen, but few survive the journey, and I’m honored to be here.”
The Youth Council, comprising 18 sectors, is committed to a comprehensive approach to nation-building. Latchman highlighted the importance of blending the insights of seasoned leaders with the vigor and creativity of the younger generation. “We have the guidance of ministers, permanent secretaries, and department heads, and we aim to merge that with the youthful energy we bring,” he said.
Encouraging other young people to participate in the Youth Council, Latchman urged, “Go for it. We welcome everyone’s energy and contributions. The future is in good hands, and you are the future.”
Under Latchman’s leadership, the Youth Council is poised to create an environment where young Vincentians can actively contribute to national progress, marking a significant step forward in empowering youth to take an active role in shaping the future of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
