On August 14, 2024, Watson Keil, a 33-year-old farmer from Barrouallie, was arrested and charged by police for the theft of a Black Samsung Tablet valued at $433.60 ECC. The tablet, which belonged to the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, was reportedly stolen on August 2, 2024, in Barrouallie.
In addition to the theft charge, Keil is accused of assaulting a 42-year-old domestic worker from Barrouallie on August 5, 2024, by striking her on the right side of her head with a bottle, causing actual bodily harm.
Keil appeared before the Barrouallie Magistrate Court on August 14, 2024, where he pleaded not guilty to both charges. He was granted bail in the sum of $2,000.00 ECC, with one surety, for the damage to property charge, and was granted self-bail in the sum of $2,000.00 ECC for the theft charge. He is expected to return to the Barrouallie Magistrate Court on October 9, 2024, to answer the charges.
