Blondie Bird and Friends continued their winning streak at the Victoria Park on August 11, clinching the King and Queen of the Band titles, along with the Individual of the Year award. Semone Richardson won Queen of the Bands with her portrayal of ‘Yaa Asantewaa – Queen of the Ashanti.’ Celina Clouden’s ‘A Look Inside the New York Aquarium’ from SVG Players International was second, and Ateika Lockhart’s ‘Bling with the Riches of the Earth’ from Verlene Ralph and the Professionals took third.
In the King of the Band competition, Jelani Niles’s ‘African Arts and Craft’ from Blondie Bird and Friends secured first place. Atiron Lockhart’s ‘Jewel of the Seas – Docked at the SVG Cruise Ship Berth’ from Lynx Mas Band was second. A tie for third place was awarded to Chewalee Johnson’s ‘The Merry Maker of a Mad Symphony’ from Nelson Bloc and Kelvin Billinghurst’s ‘Dragon Dancer – Celebrating Chinese New Year – Year of the Dragon’ from SVG Players.

In the King of the Band category, other contenders included Verlene Ralph and the Professionals with ‘Sapphire Royal,’ Xtreme Fanatics with ‘Dream There Was No Carnival,’ Beautex International with ‘Celebration of Life,’ and Melbourne Artisans with ‘Triumph of a Climate Master.’
