The morning after a historic night, Skinny Fabulous woke up feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude. In an exclusive interview with Asberth News Network, the multiple award-winning soca artist shared his thoughts on what he described as a “humbling experience.”
“I’m truly humbled by the awards I took home last night,” Skinny Fabulous began, his voice filled with emotion. “I woke up feeling grateful and just happy that my work has been recognized in such a significant way.”
The competition had been fierce, with the likes of Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, Voice, and Lyrikal all vying for the top honors. “Just to be in a category competing with the likes of Machel, Bunji, Voice, Lyrikal, and of course, my brother Problem Child, was enough for me,” he admitted. “I didn’t anticipate winning that award, but I’m ecstatic that I did.”
Skinny Fabulous emphasized the importance of his team, a group of supporters who have stood by him throughout his career. “Team is important,” he said earnestly. “I’ve had a very supportive team over the years, both in Vincy and abroad.”
He reminisced about his early days, crediting those who played pivotal roles in his journey. “From the days of Hysyanz and Zowi Stapleton, Kubiyashi, Jude the Cool Dude, Splectron, and so many others, to later on having industry colleagues like Luta, Luke, and Kevin Lyttle giving me a break, a push, advice respectively.”
Reflecting on the challenges he faced, Skinny Fabulous acknowledged the positive energy and commitment of his friends. “My journey has been a long and challenging one,” he confessed, “but I’m surrounded by positive energy and a committed team of friends like Karen, Chesley, Kubi, Ezmond, International Stephen, Riggo, Eternal Vibes, Leo, Ruel, and so many others.”
It was a night of triumph for Skinny Fabulous, who walked away with three prestigious awards: Video of the Year for his collaboration with Nailah Blackman, Collaboration of the Year, and the coveted Soca Artiste of the Year.
As the interview concluded, Skinny Fabulous’s humility and gratitude were evident, leaving no doubt that his success is built on not just talent, but also on the strong foundation of teamwork and unwavering support.
