The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has intensified its crime-fighting strategies, emphasizing greater patrols and operations in high-risk areas. On the night of September 11, 2024, officers from the Narcotics Unit intercepted a rental vehicle, RC-534, in Akers. The vehicle, occupied by three men, was approached by officers, prompting one occupant to flee. The two remaining individuals, Dante John (20) and Deo Johnson (30), laborers from Redemption Sharpes, were arrested.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a .25 caliber pistol, six rounds of ammunition, and $3,190 in cash. Additionally, two sheep and two goats were found in the car, with the origins of the animals under investigation. The cash was handed over to the Financial Investigations Unit for further examination.
John and Johnson were charged with Possession of a Firearm without a License and Possession of Ammunition without a License. At their Kingstown Magistrate Court appearance on September 13, both pleaded not guilty. Johnson was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison until September 16, while John was granted $10,000 bail, with a 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. curfew and the requirement to report to the Central Police Station twice weekly.
The RSVGPF continues to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, as part of their ongoing efforts to enhance public safety.
