As the SVG Red Cross Society observes its 75th Anniversary of humanitarian services in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, volunteer, Dora James was bestowed the Henry Dunant Medal for her outstanding service of international significance for the past 54 years.
James accepted the award in a ceremony organized by the Standing Commission of the International Federation of the Red Cross Crescent Movement in Geneva, Switzerland on October 27, 2024.
Speaking at a welcoming ceremony at the Argyle International Airport on Sunday, James said it was a proud moment mainly because she was awarded on the same day that St. Vincent and the Grenadines observed its 45th anniversary of political independence.
James has spent many years in community development work and was awarded this recognition for her outstanding contribution to disaster management, first aid, education and acts of great devotion to the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement at the level of her national society and beyond.
James is the current Supervisor of Elections in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
