The Rotary Club of St. Vincent and the Trinity Medical Sciences University collaborated last weekend on Saturday November 16th 2024 to host the very first Teddy Bear Clinic at the School for Children with Special Needs. This effort was a variation of the Rotary Club of St. Vincent’s signature Village Doctor project, hosted specially for the children who attend the School as a result of a physical or developmental challenge.
On entry, the children were warmly welcomed at the Triage center by the Trinity medical students, following which they went on to engage in pretend play in a safe space while waiting to receive specialist attention. Led by Rotarians, the medical team from Dental Arts Clinic and Beachmont Eye Institute/Eyes R Us provided free oral hygiene and eye care respectively for the students, and the medical team from Trinity Medical Sciences University provided specialist paediatric care and general medical services, successfully attending to 37 students.
The Rotary Club of St. Vincent focuses on serving the community in a number of areas of focus, such as disease prevention and treatment – as evidenced through this project. The Club is grateful for partnerships with key community stakeholders such as Jax Enterprises, Dental Arts Clinic, Beachmont Eye Institute/Eyes R Us, and the Trinity Medical Sciences University who continue to support the Club’s efforts, creating impactful projects to help improve the quality of life within our community.
