    Botanical Gardens Bounces Back for Nine Nights of Lights After Hurricane Beryl

    Despite Hurricane Beryl causing significant damage to 80% of the trees in the Botanical Gardens, preparations for the much-anticipated Nine Nights of Lights festival are well underway. The event, a staple of St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Christmas celebrations, promises to be even more spectacular this year.

    At the media launch on December 3, Calisha Solomon, Chairperson of the Nine Nights Festival Committee, revealed that beautification efforts in the gardens are 60% complete. She assured the public that the festival would feature more illuminated areas than ever before, alongside enhanced safety measures for attendees.

    Despite significant damage caused by Hurricane Beryl, preparations are well underway for the annual Nine Nights of Lights festival at the Botanical Gardens, promising a more spectacular experience this year. The festival, officially launched on December 3, has become a cornerstone of St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Christmas celebrations.

    During the media launch, Calisha Solomon, Chairperson of the Nine Nights Festival Committee, announced that 60% of the beautification work is already completed. Solomon assured attendees that despite the challenges, this year’s festival will be “bigger and brighter” with more areas of the gardens decorated and illuminated. She also emphasized that enhanced safety measures will ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for everyone.

    Chairperson of the SVG National Nine Mornings Committee, Orande “Bomani” Charles, reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting the festival, which he described as a major attraction for Christmas tourism. Communication and Public Education Officer of the National Parks, Rivers, and Beaches Authority, Twannique Barrow, also encouraged Vincentians and visitors to join the festivities, which continue to grow in popularity.

    Now in its 9th year, the festival runs from December 15 to December 23, 2024, featuring nightly activities designed to delight audiences of all ages.

    Monday, December 16: Dance Under the Stars

    Tuesday, December 17: Karaoke Night

    Wednesday, December 18: Upstage Xperience

    Thursday, December 19: X-mas on Steel

    Friday, December 20: Pajama Movie Night

    Saturday, December 21: Kids Fun Night

    Sunday, December 22: Bowman and Friends

    Monday, December 23: Night of Praise/Closing

    The Nine Nights of Lights remains a vibrant celebration of community spirit, creativity, and resilience, offering an unforgettable holiday experience.
