December 9, 2024 – More than 100 young individuals aged 18 to 34 have embarked on a six-month employment journey under the Offering National Support for Internship Training and Employment (ON-SITE) Programme, with an orientation session held at the UWI Global Campus earlier today.
The session equipped participants with essential workplace skills, including Occupational Health and Safety and Customer Service, to prepare them for roles in the private sector.
In her address, Ambassador of Taiwan, H.E. Fiona Huei-Chun Fan, lauded the initiative as a testament to the enduring partnership between Taiwan and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. She praised the programme for effectively bridging the gap between education and employment, noting the success of previous cohorts. Ambassador Fan also credited Minister of Finance, Hon. Camillo Gonsalves, for his visionary leadership in shaping the initiative.
“We expect you to enhance the businesses you join and gain valuable experience for yourselves,” Minister Gonsalves told the interns, emphasizing the high expectations placed on participants compared to other employment programmes. He encouraged them to embrace this opportunity as an investment in their futures.
The ON-SITE Programme continues to provide young Vincentians with meaningful employment and the skills necessary to excel in the workforce.
