December 6, 2024 – Kingstown: The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has made another significant breakthrough in its fight against gun-related crimes.
On December 5, 2024, police arrested Jason Richards, a 33-year-old Painter of Walvaroo, after finding him in possession of a Glock 26 pistol modified to be fully automatic with a “switch”, along with 24 rounds of 9mm ammunition. The discovery was made during a vehicle search in Redemption Sharpes.
Richards now faces charges of possessing a prohibited weapon and unauthorized ammunition, violations under the Firearms Act. He is set to appear before the Serious Offences Court on Monday, December 8, 2024.
This arrest underscores the RSVGPF’s intensified efforts to clamp down on illegal firearms, particularly those modified for greater lethality.
In a statement, the RSVGPF reaffirmed its commitment to ridding the streets of dangerous weapons and urged citizens to report suspicious activities. “Together, we can build a safer St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” the statement read.
