Nearly two years after the shocking discovery of Precious Williams’ lifeless body in Richmond Hill, police have made a major breakthrough in the case. The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has charged 25-year-old Rolando Cato, a labourer from Ratho Mill, with the murder of Ms. Williams.
The charge stems from the brutal events that transpired between May 9 and May 12, 2022. Ms. Williams’ body was found in a gutter near Joyette’s Auto Collision, concealed in a bag, with multiple injuries. A post-mortem examination later revealed that she died from several sharp force injuries.
Mr. Cato, who is already serving an 18-year sentence at His Majesty’s Prison in Belle Isle for a robbery conviction, is expected to appear in the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, December 17, 2024.
The RSVGPF commended the diligence of the officers in the Major Crimes Unit, who have worked tirelessly to advance the investigation. In a statement, the police reiterated their commitment to solving serious crimes and urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by sharing any information that could assist ongoing investigations.
The charge against Mr. Cato marks a significant step toward justice for Precious Williams, bringing renewed hope to a community still reeling from the tragedy.
