Kingstown, December 23, 2024 – Two men appeared before the Serious Offences Court on December 23, 2024, facing charges in unrelated incidents involving possession of ammunition and assault with indecent language.
In the first case, Emmanuel Myers Jr., a 24-year-old labourer of Ottley Hall, was arrested and charged for possessing one round of 9mm ammunition without a license under the Firearms Act. The offence occurred on December 19, 2024, in Ottley Hall. Myers pleaded guilty and was fined $700, payable within one month. Failure to pay will result in three months imprisonment at His Majesty’s Prison.
In a separate incident, Alderman Pompey, a 52-year-old mason of Richland Park, was charged with assault and using indecent language following an altercation on December 19, 2024, in Fair Hall. Pompey allegedly raised a cutlass at the head of a 24-year-old police officer with the intent to cause bodily harm. He also reportedly used indecent language, saying, “Man f*** off, not because you ah Police Officer you could tell me what to do,” in a public area.
Pompey pleaded not guilty to both charges and was granted bail of $1,000. His bail conditions include reporting to the Calliaqua Police Station every Monday and Wednesday between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., and avoiding any contact with the complainant. His case has been adjourned to the Calliaqua Magistrate Court, where it will be heard on January 7, 2024.
