Kingstown, St. Vincent – The chess community in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is gearing up for the 4th Annual Tyrone Jack Memorial National Chess Championship, which kicks off this weekend. The tournament, scheduled from Friday, December 27th to Monday, December 30th, 2024, will take place at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Global Campus, bringing together the nation’s top chess players to compete for the coveted Tyrone Jack Memorial Trophy.
Sponsored by RE/MAX Results Realty, Mustique Company Ltd, and UWI Global Campus, the championship is a key fixture on the national chess calendar. Participants will vie for trophies, cash prizes, and the honor of securing national titles.
Leading the event’s organization is Brian Cottle, Chairman of the Competitions and Development Sub-committee. A Candidate Master, national team player, and Chess Olympiad competitor, Cottle will also serve as Arbiter.

Raymond Osakwe and Vedant Shetty are tied for first with 2 points each.
Dimitrii Bolgov holds 1.5 points, while Truman Quashie and Rebecca Izuchukwu trail closely behind.
Uchechukwu Ojiogu, Chinedu Enemchukwu, Ronnia Durham-Balcombe, and Brinicia May each have 1 point.
Michael Amra and Luzanne Edwards stand at 0.5 points, with Arianna Balcombe, Daria Bolgova, and Lemar Abbott yet to score.
Closing Ceremony
The tournament will culminate in a closing ceremony on Monday, December 30th, where officials from the Chess Federation and representatives from the sponsors will deliver remarks.
