A Vincentian man who believed he fathered four children over the past 20 years is calling on authorities to make paternity DNA testing mandatory at birth . Speaking to ANN, the distraught man revealed that DNA results confirmed he is not the biological father of any of the children he raised.
The man explained that he had no reason to doubt their paternity until his mother remarked that his youngest child did not resemble him. “At the time, I was upset with my mom,” he said. “But as the child grew, I became more suspicious and decided to do a DNA test.”
The results showed he was not the biological father of his youngest child. This discovery prompted him to test the other three children, leading to the shocking revelation that none of them are biologically his, the children ranges from age Six (6) to twenty (20) years old .
“I am at a loss as to how a woman I spent over 30 years with could do something so devastating,” he lamented. “I love this woman. I have been to every meeting for these kids, and I invested everything—my time, energy, and resources—for them.”
When asked if he is still in a relationship with the children’s mother, he responded, “No.” However, he made it clear that he harbors no ill feelings toward the children. “In my mind, they are still my children. Biologically, they are not, but they are innocent in all of this.”
The man is urging authorities to implement mandatory DNA testing to prevent others from experiencing similar heartbreak. “This needs to be in place to save men from what I’m going through right now,” he stated.
ANN’s research revealed that there have been cases where men were imprisoned for failing to pay child support, only to later discover through DNA testing that they were not the biological fathers. DNA testing has been shown to be 99.8% accurate, making it a reliable tool for resolving paternity disputes.
