On January 18, 2025, Stephen Pope, a 58-year-old labourer from Canouan, was arrested and charged with possession of controlled drugs. Preliminary investigations revealed that Pope was found with 261 grams of cannabis, allegedly intended for supply, in Retreat, Canouan, on January 17, 2025.
Pope appeared before the Serious Offences Court on January 20, 2025, where he pleaded guilty to the charge. He was fined EC$60, payable immediately. In case of non-payment, he faces a three-month prison sentence at His Majesty’s Prison.
