The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) has extended financial assistance to its affiliates who suffered losses during the passage of Hurricane Beryl on July 1, 2024. In a recent gesture, three individuals who lost the roofs of their homes were each provided with EC$3,500 to aid in their recovery efforts.

The recipients of this assistance were:
- Foster Branch, a key figure in Greiggs FC.
- Otnell Douglas, former Executive Member and national senior men’s team Manager.
- Lionel Cumberbatch, a member of the administrative staff of QUESCO.
The three beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude, highlighting the importance of the support in their rebuilding efforts.
Relief Process and Allocation
SVGFF President Otashie Spring explained that the Federation assessed the needs of the footballing community through a survey. Thirty-five individuals responded, revealing a range of needs, from food assistance to more significant structural repairs. This assessment led to the targeted support for the most severely affected individuals.
The relief funds were drawn from the SVGFF’s local accounts after international fundraising efforts proved unsuccessful. In total, the Federation spent EC$65,000, of which EC$15,000 went directly to affiliates and EC$50,000 was contributed to the National Relief Effort.
President Spring emphasized the SVGFF’s commitment to supporting its community during challenging times, underscoring the importance of unity and resilience in the face of adversity.
