Mary-Ann Frederick, named Most Accurate Shooter at the 2024 ECCB International Netball Tournament, will represent the Vincy Jewels in the Netball Jamaica Divisional Tournament’s Premier Division. Frederick departed St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Thursday, February 13, and will compete with her Rockerz Sports Group teammates over a two-month period, with matches already underway.
Meanwhile, Vincy Warriors standouts Dorian Layne and Akeil Bute, who claimed the Most Accurate Shooter and Best Defending Player titles at the 2024 Americas Netball Men’s Championship, will participate in the Men’s Netball Association of Jamaica (MNAJ) InterCaribbean Male Premiership from February 28 to March 16, 2025.
Layne departed for Jamaica on Sunday, February 16, joining the Jaguars Netball Team, while Bute is set to leave on Thursday, February 20, to play for the defending champions, Vikings Netball Team.
President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Netball Association (SVGNA), Natasha Baptiste, hailed the opportunity as a major step forward for local netball.
“This is an excellent opportunity for both our male and female netballers, as well as for the sport in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. We are confident this exposure will be an asset to both Vincy Warriors and Vincy Jewels,” Baptiste said.
The SVGNA Executive has fully endorsed the participation of the national players and will closely follow their progress in Jamaica.
“This is our Year of Development,” the association affirmed.
