Greiggs resident Kelvin Allen, a 23-year-old tour guide, has been charged with two counts of theft following police investigations into stolen property.
According to a police press release, Allen was arrested on March 5, 2025, and charged with the theft of two Samsung cellular phones. One of the stolen devices, a Samsung A10s valued at $814.00 ECC, was the property of Coreas and Hazell Inc. The second, a Samsung A12 worth $399.00 ECC, belonged to Soniesya Charles, a 30-year-old security guard from Barrouallie.
Allen appeared before the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on March 7, 2025, where he pleaded guilty to both charges. He was sentenced to two and a half months at His Majesty’s Prison, but the sentence was suspended for 18 months.
As part of his penalty, Allen was ordered to compensate Charles $329.90 ECC immediately. Failure to do so will result in 180 days imprisonment. Additionally, he was fined $1,670.60 ECC, with an initial payment of $500.00 due immediately. The remaining $1,170.60 must be settled by March 31, 2025, or he will face one year in prison.
