Taiwan has once again demonstrated its commitment to St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) with a significant donation of relief supplies, valued at over US$66,000, to assist communities affected by Hurricane Beryl.
At a handover ceremony held at the West St. George Secondary School, Her Excellency Fiona Huei-Chun Fan, Taiwan’s Ambassador to SVG, officially presented the shipment to Hon. Keisal Peters, Minister of National Mobilisation and Social Development. The event was attended by Hon. Curtis King, Minister of Education and National Reconciliation, officials from the Ministry of Education, and over 150 teachers and students, with a total of roughly 200 participants present.
The donation—facilitated by the SimplyHelp Foundation, a Los Angeles-based non-profit founded by Taiwanese-American businesswoman Ms. Tina Bow—included shoes, toys, sports equipment, nutrition supplements, and wheelchairs.
In her remarks, Ambassador Fan expressed deep gratitude to the SimplyHelp Foundation for its generosity, emphasizing Taiwan’s unwavering support for SVG. She highlighted ongoing collaborations in health, education, and agriculture, citing the construction of the Arnos Vale Acute Care Hospital (AVACH), Taiwan’s agricultural technology transfer, and the Taiwan scholarship program as key pillars of the partnership.
Minister Peters extended appreciation to Taiwan and the SimplyHelp Foundation, acknowledging Taiwan’s broad impact across all sectors of Vincentian society. “There is no area of development in SVG that Taiwan has not touched,” she stated, reaffirming the enduring partnership between the two nations.
As SVG continues to recover from Hurricane Beryl, this latest donation underscores Taiwan’s long-standing commitment to humanitarian aid and sustainable development in the Caribbean.
